Mr. Lim passed away on May 25, 2024, at the age of 75, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering commitment to the cause of social justice and democracy in Singapore.

Mr. Lim Ee Ping was born on March 18, 1949, in Singapore. He grew up in a time of significant political and social change, which profoundly shaped his views and spurred his lifelong dedication to public service. He joined the Workers' Party in the early 1970s, driven by a passion to advocate for the rights of the underprivileged and to push for a more equitable society.


Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Lim held various positions within the party, including serving on the Central Executive Council, where he was instrumental in shaping party policies and strategies. Known for his articulate speeches and tireless grassroots work, Mr. Lim was a respected figure both within the party and among the wider public.


His contributions were not confined to the political arena. Mr. Lim was also a fervent advocate for education and workers' rights. He played a pivotal role in several community outreach programs, focusing on uplifting disadvantaged communities and providing educational opportunities for young people.


In the 1984 general elections, Mr. Lim made his electoral debut, contesting in the Cheng San Group Representation Constituency (GRC). Though the Workers' Party did not win the seat, Mr. Lim's campaign was noted for its spirited engagement with residents and effective highlighting of key social issues. His efforts laid the groundwork for the party's future successes and growth in subsequent elections.


Mr. Lim's dedication extended beyond politics into mentorship and support for new party members. He was always willing to share his extensive knowledge and experience, helping to nurture the next generation of leaders. His warmth, generosity, and unflagging spirit earned him the admiration and respect of colleagues and opponents alike.


The Workers' Party chairman, Mr. Pritam Singh, expressed his condolences, stating, "Mr. Lim Ee Ping's passing is a significant loss to the party and to Singapore. His unwavering commitment to justice and equality has left an indelible mark on our nation. We will continue to build on his legacy and strive towards the ideals he championed."


Mr. Lim is survived by his wife, two children, and four grandchildren. As the Workers' Party mourns his loss, they celebrate his remarkable life and enduring contributions to Singapore's political landscape.


A memorial service will be held on June 1, 2024, at the Workers' Party headquarters, where friends, family, and colleagues will gather to pay their respects and honor the life of a true champion of the people, Mr. Lim Ee Ping.
