Born on July 20, 1948, in Birmingham, Alabama, Jackie grew up with a strong sense of duty and commitment instilled by his parents, Thomas and Margaret Gordon. This sense of duty led him to enlist in the United States Army at a young age, where he served honorably for over two decades. His military career was marked by courage, integrity, and a deep-seated patriotism that earned him the respect and admiration of his peers.


Upon retiring from the military, Jackie transitioned to a career in public service, working tirelessly as a community leader and advocate. His dedication to improving the lives of others was evident in his work with various veterans’ organizations and local civic groups. Jackie was a stalwart supporter of veterans' rights and welfare, always striving to ensure that his fellow servicemen and women received the recognition and support they deserved.


Jackie was also a devoted family man. In 1972, he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Ann, with whom he shared 52 wonderful years of marriage. A man of many talents, Jackie was known for his storytelling, his love of fishing, and his remarkable ability to fix anything that was broken.
