Born on April 23, 1988, in Atlanta, Georgia, Janisa was known for her bright spirit and boundless energy from a young age. She excelled academically, earning a degree in Education from Spelman College and later a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Emory University. Her passion for teaching and commitment to making a difference led her to a fulfilling career as an elementary school teacher.


Janisa’s professional journey was characterized by her innovative teaching methods and her genuine care for her students. She taught at various schools in the Atlanta Public School system, where she was beloved by students, parents, and colleagues alike. Janisa believed in the power of education to transform lives and was dedicated to fostering a love of learning in her students. Her classroom was a place of creativity, encouragement, and growth.


Beyond her professional life, Janisa was a devoted mother to her two children, Aiden and Maya. She was actively involved in their education and extracurricular activities, always cheering them on and providing a nurturing and supportive environment. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Janisa Johnson Education Fund, which will support educational initiatives and scholarships for underprivileged students.
