Remembering Billy B: A Tribute to William V. Bannasch

We are saddened to announce the passing of William V. Bannasch, affectionately known as “Billy B,” who left us on June 18, 2024, at the age of 68, following complications from a heart attack. A cherished father, devoted husband, and esteemed community member, Billy B’s life was a testament to kindness, hard work, and a passion for helping others.

William V. Bannasch, affectionately known as “Billy B,” passed away on June 18, 2024, at age 68, 


Born on August 5, 1955, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Billy B was the beloved son of George and Mary Bannasch. From a young age, he exhibited a remarkable talent for mechanics and a keen interest in automobiles. This passion led him to pursue a career in automotive repair, where he became a respected and skilled mechanic, known for his integrity and dedication to his craft.


Billy B owned and operated Bannasch Auto Repair for over 30 years, earning the trust and admiration of countless customers with his exceptional service and honest work ethic. His garage was more than just a business; it was a community hub where friends and neighbors gathered, sharing stories and laughter.


Beyond his professional achievements, Billy B was a devoted family man. He married his high school sweetheart, Linda, with whom he shared 45 years of love and companionship. Together, they raised three wonderful children, Michael, Sarah, and Emily, who were the pride and joy of his life. Billy B’s love for his family was evident in everything he did, from weekend camping trips to his unwavering support of their endeavors.


An avid outdoorsman, Billy B found solace in nature. He loved fishing, hiking, and spending time at the family cabin in northern Wisconsin. His adventurous spirit and zest for life were infectious, inspiring those around him to embrace the beauty of the world.


Billy B’s generosity extended beyond his family and business. He was an active member of his local church, a volunteer at numerous community events, and always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His kindness and compassion touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on his community.


William V. Bannasch is survived by his loving wife, Linda; his children, Michael (Jessica), Sarah (David), and Emily (Daniel); his grandchildren, Ella, Jack, and Nora; and his sister, Karen. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.


A celebration of Billy B’s life will be held on June 28, 2024, at St. Mark’s Church in Milwaukee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in his honor.
