Honoring Situmba Bwalya Simon: A Dedicated Soldier and Community Leader

He passed away on June 30, 2024, at Maina Soko Medical Centre, Lusaka, due to complications from a severe respiratory infection. Situmba Bwalya Simon was born on April 15, 1985, in Ndola, Zambia. From a young age, he exhibited a strong sense of duty and patriotism, which led him to join the Zambia Army in 2005. Over his nearly two-decade-long service, Situmba rose through the ranks due to his unwavering commitment, bravery, and exemplary conduct.


Throughout his military career, Situmba was known for his exceptional leadership skills and his ability to inspire and uplift those around him. He participated in several key missions, both domestically and internationally, contributing to peacekeeping efforts and ensuring the safety and security of his fellow citizens. His dedication to duty was recognized through numerous commendations and awards.


Situmba’s service to his country was paralleled by his deep love for his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Lombe, and a loving father to their two children, Mukuka and Kunda. He cherished every moment spent with his family, balancing his demanding career with his role as a family man.


Beyond his professional and familial commitments, Situmba was an avid sports enthusiast. A military funeral will be held on July 8, 2024, at the Zambia Army Headquarters in Lusaka, with full military honors. The burial will follow at Leopard's Hill Memorial Park.
